Since our small winery’s first vintage in 1991, our goal has been to create handcrafted, full-flavored wines that express the personality of the unique Sonoma County vineyards where they are grown. Fred first became known for Zinfandel from his father’s Alexander Valley vineyard, and now his careful hand with Pinot Noir from the Russian River and Sonoma County has quietly gained attention and a steady following. That same attention has made Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah that exemplify the bounty of Sonoma County vineyards. – Description from Dragac

  • Okay, we're counting down to the end of the year.  With three drinking weeks left, start nominating your wines of the year.  And, if you like, nominate a wine experience of the year. I'm going to have to think about the WOTY for a while, and I'll update this OP as things occur to me, but I'm going to say it wasn't a year full of head turning win... • Being aware of price points for most of the other varietals I have always wondered why the Pinot Noirs are always priced way ahead of the other varietals. It is almost impossible to purchase a Pinot Noir at the same price point/quality as a Cabernet Sauvignon for under $20Now I live in a region where both Cabernet Sauvignon (Washington State) and... • Scherrer Russian River Valley 'Sasha' Syrah 2009

    Snoothrank:

Another fantastic bottle of Scherrer Syrah! Interesting note of cocoa on the nose. The palate is layered full of ripe macerated black cherry, rhubarb, a hint of brown necco wafer, but without the black pepper bite that syrah can have. This is a very well balanced wine with medium plus acidity and a fairly long finish. Read More

  • Hard to say what it exactly is, but we've all had moments when wines were really open and "singing" maybe after a quick decant, or hours of air, they just started to open and catch fire. I can think of quite a few wines that stick out in this way, though it seems like a very unpredictable phenomenon. Also, what the heck is going on with wines th... Read More
