Saracina was named after a centuries-old farmhouse and vineyards in Tuscany where owners John Fetzer and Patty Rock spent their honeymoon. The main ranch is home to Saracina Vineyards, a small-production, state-of-the art, California Certified Organic (CCOF) winery and the first wine caves in Mendocino County. Working with winemaker, Alex MacGregor, and winemaking consultant, David Ramey, they produce stylistically unique wines with lush California fruit and silky, soft tannins. Atrea, their second brand, focuses on interesting, quirky Rhone-style blends.

  • Saracina Vineyards Atrea Old Soul Red Mendocino 2005

    Snoothrank:

Good solid wine - it has been compared to Orin Swift's Prisoner - I don't think that is a fair comparison - I LOVE Prisoner year after year - this is good and tastes similiar and for the money is quite worth the try - let it breathe - you will enjoy this interesting blend. Read More

  •  Say Wha? You say? No it's true, well as true as something like this can be.Petite Sirah, aka Duriff, has toiled in anonymity for years. It's a solid blending grape and has added punch and color to some of the greatest bottles of jug wine ever to come out of California. It survived prohibition being a thick skinned solution to shipping woes.  Wh... Read More

  • Saracina Sauvignon Blanc Mendocino County 2005

    Snoothrank:

Had the good fortune of doing a vertical of Saracina Sauvignon Blanc (2004-2006). The 04 had all the stereotypical SB pungency, if you like that kind of funk. The 05 took some time to come out of its shell, but bridged the gap of bright new world ripe fruit and old world terroir; while the 06, stood up and said, look at me, I'm young and sexy,...
