Santa Cruz Mountain Vineyard

408-426-6209 Santa Cruz, CA 95060
United States

Since 1975, Santa Cruz Mountain Vineyard has been producing terroir-driven, food-oriented wines known for their character, personality and ability to age gracefully for decades. We are well-known for making Pinot Noir that is still alive and well in its third decade. In 2008 we launched a second brand, Quinta Cruz, which features all Iberian Peninsula varieties. These Portuguese and Spanish varieties include Tempranillo, Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesa, Graciano, and Tinto Cão. Our tasting room and winery is located in the City of Santa Cruz in an area where you can walk to many other tasting rooms nearby, many in the same building. We are only a few blocks from the beach and Natural Bridges State Park.

  • Here's an offer from another vendor on that list. Lots of mouthwatering classics here that are quite hard to find. Bottle prices in some cases are getting up there, others not as much. Many will need TLC considering their age, of course, but this vendor is reliable, and well keyed into the Napa scene.    Take a look at this list -- MAYACAMAS, HE... Read More

  • Despite my somewhat feeble attempts trying to find US wine in Australia is frustratingSo I think I would like to build a list of high Quality but not astronomic priced wines my American Snooth Colleagues would suggest I look out forBare in mind that if it is from a very small niche producer I would need to know how I can source it in AustraliaSo... • Many wineries are distinctly associated with a single appellation or growing region. Martin Ray Winery unlike most can claim to real roots in two distinct California counties, Santa Cruz and Sonoma. When you consider the fact that they also source grapes in some of Napa Valley’s most prime AVA’s the picture that comes in to focus shows a brand t... Read More

  • Santa Cruz Mountain Vineyards Pinot Noir Santa Cruz Mountains Branciforte Creek 2005

    Snoothrank:

The Pinot Noir produced from the grapes of Dr. Jennifer Choate and Dave "Woody" Wood's vinyard has spoiled me and set a new bar height in what I'll expect from this kind of wine. Absolutely wonderful range of flavors, from first sip through last aftertaste. This is a definitely a wine of highest rank, to be enjoyed on its own or accompanied b... Read More

  • One of our charming new posters, cysurvivor, was fishing for recommendations here for a visit over MLK weekend.  Since we're all pretty free with our half-baked ideas and opinions, we had plenty of ideas for him, didn't we?  Since Mauritson kept showing up on the list, it looked like it would make the final cut, so I went on private messaging an... • Made a trip to Pahrump Nevada today to play a round of golf with my friends at Mountain Falls GC. Amazing course! Rated #1 in Nevada and the #7 public course in America. • I love N. Rhone Syrah.  It's my favorite red wine in France.  But the acreage of the region is so small and the area that provide its best wines even smaller, that prices have hit the roof.  Sure, there are a few St. Josephs and Crozes-Hermitages that come in around $25, but those are either made for earlier drinking and a lot less thrilling wit... • Not only is Cabernet Sauvignon the most popular red wine, it’s also one that is best suited to gift giving. It’s a wine that everyone knows and understands. Big, rich and bold, it’s the archetype of red wines that is perfect for the cooler months that lie ahead. While Cabernet does get a bit of a bad rap as being ubiquitous, that doesn’t mean th...
