RoxyAnn Winery 2007 Viognier
Appellation: Rogue Valley
Rhone varieties seem to thrive in the Southern Oregon, and winemaker Gus Janeway does not stand in the way of the fruit. This opens with hints of peaches, pears and apples with tangerine, melons and a flinty minerality. Elegant and balanced begins to describe the entry of more peaches and melons with a mouth feel of vanilla cream. Then tangerines and Mandarin oranges provide a smooth layer of tartness. Rated "Outstanding" by Wine Press Northwest magazine.
Price: $20.
Cases produced: 638.
Food matches: This delicate white wine should pair well with soft cheeses, butternut squash bisque or seared scallops.

Thought I'd finally get around to introducing myself, Lord knows I've been ... wineries in Southern Oregon, RoxyAnn Winery. It's much warmer and drier down here than up in the Willamette, and we grow Bordeaux and Rhone...
Northwest Wine Press rated the 2007 Viognier "Outstanding" and awarded it the "Pacific Northwest Wine of the Week: March 31, 2009".
The RoxyAnn 2007 Pinot gris was named BEST U.S. PINOT GRIS at the 2008 World Wine Championship, (BTI).
The 2007 Pinot gris also won a GOLD MEDAL, at the 2009 San Francisco Wine Competition.

The Oregon Wine Blog has just published a review of RoxyAnn, calling us a "Treasure In The Rogue Valley."

The Oregon Wine Press gave the RoxyAnn Late Harvest Viogneir a nice write up in the March 2009 issue, saying..."Medford’s RoxyAnn Winery crafts a true rarity in their late-harvest Viognier. A barnyard owl occupies the label, a reference to their century-old pastoral barnyard, which shares the scenic landscape with lots of local critters. In the glass, the dessert wine smells distinctly nutty, like caramelized pecans and green tea. In the mouth, there’s a pinch of carbonation, before an explosion of pineapple, melon and peach fruit flavors. Somewhat grassy, the syrupy wine exits with a limey, sorbet-like finish. Of a Rhone mindset, RoxyAnn also crafts a Roussanne, as well as a traditional Viognier."

Too bad I caught this thread too late. The winery you folks are talking about ... correctly. I work at Roxyann Winery in Medford, OR and we make some fantastic wines for ourselves as well as several custom crush...
Drinking great now with tons of ripe fruit and integrated tannic structure. Good luck finding it except in restaurants, as it's mostly sold out.
