  • Roger Sabon Fils & Châteauneuf-du-Pape Réserve 2010

    Snoothrank:

The nose was dark and brooding with black raspberry, seared meat, peppery spice, cedar, earth tones and hints of menthol. On the palate it was medium-bodied and rich yet structured with dense, ripe blackberry, plum reduction, and exotic spices. Dark fruit saturated the senses throughout the long finish as fruit slowly melted from memory leaving ... Read More

  • Roger Sabon Fils & Châteauneuf-du-Pape Réserve 2010

    Snoothrank:

The nose showed rich red and black berries with savory mushroom and meaty notes, a hint of pepper and herbal tea leaves. On the palate it was medium bodied with firm structure buried beneath intense red cherry fruit, cinnamon spice, and led to a long, long palate staining finish. It's enjoyable now with a short decant, yet should age and improve... Read More

  • Roger Sabon le Sabounet Region Rhone France Shiraz Syrah Grenache Cinsault Red Rhone NV

    Snoothrank:

Here is a Sabon offering that blends some of the characteristic grape varieties of the Southern Rhone such as Cinsault and Grenache. The result for this Vin de Table is something of a Cafe wine from (say) Cotes du Ventoux - the eastern bank of the river Rhone. The nose is redolent of raisins and somewhat more acidic red fruit such as cranberry. ... Read More

  • Rhone By Roger Sabon 2010

    Snoothrank:

This is an excellent Cotes-du-Rhone by Sabon - the renowned Chateauneuf-du-Pape producer - and there is sufficient structure (due to the presence of a goodly proportion of Syrah in the blend) to allow for a bit of prudent cellar aging. The nose is fresh and piquant with a hint of wild red fruit from the Pacific Northwest of the USA and Canada. ... Read More
