We are a family winery specializing in small lots of Santa Lucia Highland's Pinot Noir, Syrah and beginning in the summer of 2009, Chardonnay. Our roots in the Santa Lucia Highlands are quite deep. Both Gary and Rosella grew up in California's agricultural heartland where Gary’s family has farmed for over 100 years. After graduating from Cal Poly with a degree in agribusiness, Gary took over the running of the family farm business, which owned and managed over 200 acres of row crops in the Salinas Valley. Recognizing the region's potential for premium wine grapes, we planted Rosella's Vineyard in 1996. We also co-own and manage the Garys' Vineyard with Gary Pisoni of Pisoni Vineyard. – Description from Kursulla

  • Dom Peri doesn't really do it for me, either.  Nothing made by Moet et Chandon has really wowed me, in France or here.  For less money, I'll take a P-J Belle Epoque.  Or Taittinger, or Billecart-Salmon, or a bunch of things.  For way less, Pierre Paillard (grower stuff) wowed me recently. Speaking of underwhelming wines, I had two bottles of Roa... • Pisoni is barely Pinot.  It's really ripe, but Bob Parker calls it Cali's "grand cru" of Pinot vineyards.  His pinot taste has always been suspect. They aren't sold out at all.  There's a backlash or defection from their product now.  Cab lovers went back to cab and pinot lovers are tired of the sweet Santa Lucia Highlands wines.  I know I am--I... • I love N. Rhone Syrah.  It's my favorite red wine in France.  But the acreage of the region is so small and the area that provide its best wines even smaller, that prices have hit the roof.  Sure, there are a few St. Josephs and Crozes-Hermitages that come in around $25, but those are either made for earlier drinking and a lot less thrilling wit... Love the wines but the space is getting a little tight...)So it seemed lik... Read More

  • It’s a great thing when things just come together. Earlier this year I had planned a trip to California to do some tasting but it had to be postponed. When I went to reschedule I noticed a thread in the Snooth Forum  that was looking for people to join in a West Coast Pinot Noir Throw Down. I wasn’t sure what exactly that entailed but I am alway... • Roar Pinot Noir Rosellas 2010

    Snoothrank:

Gorgeous fruit driven nose with sweet graham cracker accents to a core of black raspberry fruit. This is a little sweet in the mouth but it's got a cool, compact feel to it with nice tension on the midpalate though it does turn a bit jammy and alcoholic on the finish. 88pts Read More
