Genevieve and I are both tremendous Pinot Noir fans. We enjoy Pinots from all over the world. When it came time to start a small wine project, we wanted something that would reflect our own passions for wine and what we enjoy most about the business and the culture. A chance to make Pinot Noir, and more specifically Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir, presented itself in the form of Summa Vineyard and Scott and Joan Zeller. Genevieve and I jumped at a chance to work with Scott and Joan appreciating not only the fabulous opportunity to work with a vineyard as storied as Summa but we really appreciated their aesthetic. Trips to the vineyard yielded great Pinot grapes but also jams, dozens of eggs, fava beans, potatoes and homemade wines all made by the Zellers from their property. Scott has also introduced us to what will become a big part of the future of Read more »

Rivers-Marie on Snooth

  • We recieved our 2015 Rivers Marie PN a few weeks ago, therefore it's time to try a 2014. Exellent floral notes and bright fruit on the nose. Black/Red cherry and some raspberry on entry, earthiness, forest floor and herbs on the mid palate and a hint of spice on the backend. Medium body. Minimal tannins with a medium finish. One of my favorite P... Read More

  • JD-I agree for the money pretty darn good. I bet it would surprise many in a blind tasting. In preparation for the Rivers-Marie release next week we opened this really good 2014 Rivers-Marie Pinot Noir Silver Eagle Vineyard. It's certainly our type of a hardy PN. Floral/expressive nose. Dark blackberry fruit with a hint of raspberry, excellent ba... Read More

  • Here's a thought worth discussing. • OK Thanks for all your suggestions. I was able to find most of your suggestions, though a couple I had to get different vintages. I added to that a few that I selected based on various reviews. I have a decent selection of Pinot Noir on order now, at a range of price points, most of which should be a good fit to my style preference. I'm just get... Read More

  • I typically shy away from Pinot Noir, preferring more full bodied, dark & dense varieties. But I have had a couple Pinot's that knocked my socks off. In each case, these were made New World style with very concentrated extraction resulting in a fruity palette and dense mouth feel. But I don't recall what wines/vintages were like this.Would love t... Read More
