Ridgeline Wines is a family owned and run business. The winemaker, Mark Haisma, has been involved with premium wine throughout his working life from his first job at Domaine Chandon in the Yarra Valley in the 1980s to running five star retaurants in Europe and Australia in the 1990s. In 1999, Mark had the good fortune to be offered employment at the Yarra Yering vineyard in the Yarra Valley. Established by Dr. Bailey Carrodus in the 1960s, Yarra Yering is one of the premium wineries in the Yarra Valley and Australia. Described by Berry Bros and Rudd in the UK as a "complex and unique" winemaker who "uses unusual and idiosyncratic winemaking methods to create extraordinary wines", Dr. Carrodus taught Mark the art of winemaking from scratch allowing him to develop an intimate understanding of the impact of vineyard practice on wine quality – Description from Dragac

  • Ridgeline Cabernet Alexander Valley 2010

A good comeback after a very poor 2009 vintage.Duckhorn purchased the Ridgeline Vineyard in Sonoma from Artesa in June of 2012. This wine now has its graped sourced from Napa and not Sonoma. Mark Beringer is continuing the Ridgeline label for Artesa with this recent release. Great color, good nose, and medium weight and tannins. Mostly mid pa... Read More

  • While traveling through Napa Valley last month I noticed that all the Vineyards I visited had roses planted around their crops. They're planted and watched closely for any early signs of infestation on the land. They monitor the Roses closely and upon early signs of problems, protective measures are taken to make sure the grape vines receive a s... What a sad ending to one of my favorite Cabernets over the past 3-4 years. Ridgeline (formerly owned and operated by Artesa Winery) was a boutique winery that specialized in Cabernets that were soft, smoky, and wonderfully easy to,drink. I developed a fondness for, them after drinking their 2005 a number of years ago. But this clearly is an examp... Read More

  • Ridgeline Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley Lone Pine 2007

Wonderfully ripe, fresh red berry fruit along with some blackberry, cassis, and sweet oak on the nose. It's got that bright, vibrant lush fruit for 2007 but has nice tannin and acid to back it up, offering a layered, tasty wine. Currant, cassis, and crushed fresh red raspberry, strawberry and blackberry fruit with oak spice and vanilla accents... Read More
