  • Nothing that I paid over $50 for.  I do have a few 2013 Rene Rostaing C-R that are probably the top of my Syrah price list.  But the highest average price for wine in my cellar is Barolo--hard to find many wines under $50, although I try.  Speaking of which, the 2013 Barolos are hitting the market just about now.  I've been thinking about what I... • MY FIRST VISIT TO BERN'S STEAKHOUSE - Tampa (4/8/2017)Like any true wine geek when I was informed of a trade show in Tampa my first thought was "I'm making reservations at Bern's." I have friends who live in Tampa about 3 min from the restaurant so we hooked up for a fun three top. Rachel came recommended as a Somm so I requested her in advance.... Read More

  • Well, yes, I do.  I'll post a more comprehensive list, but for now, I ... informed that my two 2013 Rene Rostaing Cote Rotie Ampodium bottles have arrived.  Other than a few more bottles that are taking a little longer than I imagined they would, they have fulfilled all the orders I have made.  International shipping is not my issue, but I'll ... • Rostaing Cote Rotie Classique 1999

    Snoothrank:

This bottle of wine was part of a lot I bought from the website www.bidforwine.co.uk/auctions/show/44411 . Cote-Rotie is an AOC created in 1940, although wine-making here goes back to at least the Romans, for red wines located on the west bank of the Rhone about 20 miles south of Lyon. The name roughly translates as 'roasted slope ' because the ... Read More

Tight and a bit reduced on the nose, this opens slowly to reveal a nice white pepper top note over fresh mineral flecked raspberry aromas. Elegant and refined in the mouth with an appealing transparency to the mulberry tinged fruit that is framed with nuanced mint and balsamic notes. This is a bit front loaded in the mouth with high toned fruit ... Read More
