Half way up the hill overlooking the main Barolo valley, along the first spurs of the neatly aligned vineyards, lies the Abbey of the Annunziata (Our Lady of the Annunciation), a priceless jewel of the 15th Century. Just as the good friars of centuries past produced wines from the... Read more

  • Renato Ratti Barolo Marcenasco Rocche 2005

    Snoothrank: Starting at $69.99

Very overrated wine by wine spectator reviewer JS- have to wonder if he actually tasted the bottles availabel in the US. Very nice nose, medium to thin body, straightforward one deminsional finish. Better with food, not a stand alone wine.

  • Renato Ratti Nebbiolo d'Alba Vigna Ochetti 2007

    Snoothrank:

Bright cherries on the nose. Very smooth and light, predominantly cherries and red fruit with a hint of red licorice & herbs. Soft tannins and a bright finish.

  • Renato Ratti Barbera d'Alba Torriglione 2005

    Snoothrank:

Almost totally opaque purple-red in colour, the nose is powerful and is filled with aromas of cherries and other red berries, mocca and hints of vanilla. The mouthfeel is soft and balanced, but it's dense and there is quite a body. The tannins represent very good Italian structural... Read more

  • Renato Ratti Barolo Marcenasco Rocche 2005

    Snoothrank:

AWE blind tasting - passionfruit, lemon, wood, lemon pledge, stewy, cedar, a touch of mothball, nothing going on in the mouth, loose, some dark berry fruit, heavy tannins, kind of extracted, really tannic finish, not enough flesh, 78-80

AWE lind tasting - sweet wood, furry, nice jammy wild raspberry fruit tones, pretty nose, rosehips and sweet fruitwood smoke, a touch of fruit stripes gum, fresh, easy, a bit hollow on the palate, successful restaurant style wine, drinkable with some nice sour cherry notes, a nice... Read more

  • Renato Ratti Barbera d'Alba Torriglione 2007

    Snoothrank:

This vintage is more powerful, has more body than the year 2004 which we have tasted before. It has a great fruity taste with some spices and a lovely fresh taste. This wine is superb to light Italian dishes. http://winesworld.net/wine-e.aspx?velg=Italy&v2=2259 Read more
