After making wine for other people for more than twenty years, Rob Stuart and his partners founded R. Stuart & Co. in early 2002. With a degree in biochemistry from Rensselear Polytechnic Institute in New York, and a short but eye-opening career in the labs at Baylor University in Texas, Rob started his winemaking journey on the bottling line at Hans Kornell in Napa, California. From there he went on to work in the cellar at Valley View Vineyards and then on to Stanton Hills in Yakima, Washington where he made wine for ten years. Rob managed to return to Oregon in 1994 when he became the winemaker at Erath Vineyards, his home away from home until he started his current adventure. Now he makes the wines he loves: Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, and sparkling wine. Life is good. – Description from milana

  • Love Oregon Pinot Noir 2014

Heady floral aromas with cinnamon spice and chalky trailhead dust settle down into fruit notes of black cherry, strawberry and sweetened dried cranberries. This is fresh and lively on the palate with spicy acidity and notes of red licorice, bramble fruit and an herbal note on the finish. Read More

  • Stuart Cellars Temecula Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2008

Rich inky nose of boysenberry and cassis. Lots of minerality and notes of iron. Dark flavors of expresso, dark chocolate, currant, creme de cassis and violet liquer. Some slight herbal notes. A hard, mineral edge throughout. It's got nice acid, moderate tannin and an alright structure for an everyday drinker. Would be better with food.77 pts Read More

  • Stuart Cellars Cucamonga Valley Zinfandel Lopez Ranch Vintner's Special Select Reserve 2008

Loads of pepper and spice on the nose with an underbrush and tomato leaf aroma. Spicy, stewed red fruit compote, some zippy pomegranate notes and fresh sage. On the palate, a rather minty quality up front. Then zesty red raspberry and currant fruit with a white pepper and baking spice quality. Some blacker fruits emerge. Lighter to medium b... Read More

  • Stuart Cellars Temecula Valley Long Valley Red Limited Estate Reserve Meritage 2006

Nice deep crimson in the glass. Nose is correct for the Meritage varietals within. Some nice smoky, tobacco notes with blackberry, cassis, loamy turned soil, boysenberry, tar and espresso. More red on the palate. Flavors of crushed currant, dried strawberry, tobacco leaf, black cherry, cola, and some hints of cranberry, rhubarb and cocoa-tin... Read More
