  • Amarone Della Valpolicella Zyme Amarone Della Valpolocella By Celestino Gaspari

    Snoothrank:

Celestino Gaspari has long been touted as the successor to the legendary Giuseppe Quintarelli. He produces for his own domain exemplary Amarone, with classic aromas and exuberant, like this 2004 Amarone elegant and persistent. Generous, well balanced with an elegant finish it will accompany well a veal "al pepe nero". Read More

  • Quintarelli Rosso Ca del Merlo 2000

    Snoothrank:

Had the opportunity to do a vertical tasting the other night. Tasted this vintage, the 1999, the 1994 and the 1992, as well. This particular vintage retails for about $25 less than the 1992, and in my mind is superior. Lush, well-structured, amazing finish and simply extraordinary for the price. Bought six bottles at $46 retail from E. 48th Stre... Read More

  • Quintarelli Valpolicella 1999

    Snoothrank:

A forest of black berries. Dark, full of earth, brimming with espresso and tobacco. Very smooth on the tongue, not at all vulgar or wild, with well polished tannins and assertive acidity. It indeed skids on being an Amarone but isn't one. Perhaps a good Amarone from a top producer is better, but this wine is not at all lacking in stature or esteem. Read More
