Considered as one of the leaders of the region, Quinta dos Roques combines in a perfect way century old traditions with the most updated technologies, resulting in one of the finest "quinla" wines produced in Portugal being the pride of its creators. Since the first Roques, over more than a century ago, the vineyards and the wine are part of the everyday life of this family, though for a long time the production was only enough for the household consumption. At the beginning of the eighties, the traditional agriculture gave way to an ambitious project, aiming for the production of a superior quality D50 wine. Alter choosing the best places with granitic and, at times, schistous soils, in gentle southern facing slopes, the best traditional grape varieties of the region were planted following the most advanced techniques. A new winery was then built, combining the modem with the traditional, the science and technology with art. Side by side, in perfect symbiosis, electronic presses appeared alongside granite Read more »

  • Encruzado Barrique Do Portugal Quinta Dos Roques Encruzado Jahrgang Portugal Encruzado Die Dynamischen 2009

    Snoothrank:

These Dao wines have progressed in leaps and bounds and show little in common ... couple of decades ago. This Quinta dos Roques is a case in point; the balance, elegance and hedonic pleasures of nose and mouthfeel is a far cry from the rusticity of the past. The Christmas Cake (what else?) scent, cherry pie flavours with melt-in-your-mouth un... Read More

  • Quinta Dos Roques Qunita Do Correio Dao Tinto 2009

    Snoothrank:

I have not had Dao wine for some time, and this mid-rank number from Quinta do Correio has bracing acidity on the palate with flavours of cranberry and wild red huckleberry. • Quinta Dos Roques Red Blend Dão Garrafeira 2000

    Snoothrank:

Bought a case 5 years ago and haven't opened a bottle in at least 2. Color is dark burgandy red..still very dense. Nose is reminescent of an old port (grapes are all port grapes for goodness) with a hint of fruit and acidity. Initial palate is dense, leather, faded fruit and cedar....more than a bit like an aged Rioja. Finish is somewhat com... Read More
