Quinta do Crasto is located on the right bank of the river Douro, halfway between Régua and Pinhão. The quinta covers 130 hectares, of which 70 are planted with grade “A” vineyards. Sitting on a privileged location in the Douro Demarcated Region, Quinta do Crasto has been in the family of Leonor and Jorge Roquette for over a century. Like other great Douro quintas, its origins lie in ancient times (the name CRASTO comes from the Latin word castrum, a Roman fort). References to Quinta do Crasto date as far back as the early seventeenth century, long before the Douro became the world’s first demarcated wine region in 1756. Large investments were made over the last years to restructure the vineyards and install modern winery equipment, guaranteeing the production of high quality table wines, such as Crasto Douro Red, Quinta do Crasto Douro Reserva Old Vines, single variety wines (100 % Touriga Nacional and 100% Tinta Roriz) and single vineyard wines (Vinha da Ponte and Vinha Maria Teresa), as well Read more »

  • Quinta Do Crasto Douro 2013

    Snoothrank:

A nice medium red in the glass. Blackberry, plum, dark cherry fruit hit the nose lead the way to chocolate, spice, earth and a unique citrus mixing with mild tannins and acidity. Good food wine. Paul 88 points Read More

  • Quinta Do Castro Superior Douro 2013

    Snoothrank:

Dark ruby in the glass with a very small separation ring. Aromas of blackberries spice, dark chocolate, anise are covered with a puff of smoke with every swirl. The body is medium to full with smoke going away and is replaced by an accent note cinnamon. Well balanced tannins and acidity leave a medium long aftertaste. Well done - hold or drink -... I did a blind tasting of the Quinta do Crasto Douro and the reserve and I preferred the regular one."Often the case when the reserve is made oldskool, to last and mature over time. • I am drinking a 2013 Porca de Murca, Douro Reserva from Portugal. The wine seems to be fine, clear sight, clean fruity nose, in the beginning its fine on the palate (maybe a lack of fruit compared to the nose)... everything but the finish. It has a weird bitter finish, very unpleasant. Its not the tart taste of tannins (even so it is pretty high... Read More
