  • I was wondering what sort of new topic I could start that would pair nicely with my previous posting 'Weekday Wines'; well here it is - Weekend Wines.  Sometimes I just have to stop and take a minute to pat myself on the back for my quick wit but alas, this isn't one of those times.  Anyway, why not talk about wines we enjoy on weekends?  These ... • While traveling through Napa Valley last month I noticed that all the Vineyards I visited had roses planted around their crops. They're planted and watched closely for any early signs of infestation on the land. They monitor the Roses closely and upon early signs of problems, protective measures are taken to make sure the grape vines receive a s... • For Thanksgiving, Trader Joe's has the Purple Moon Shiraz and Chardonnary available - doesn't say what vintage or give any other information so I don't know if these are the ones mentioned on here or not. I was reading the reviews -- the Shiraz is described as "soft, full-bodied with notes of blueberry, blackberry and a lingering plum-spiced fin...

  • Sadly I did Not. I had a busy weekend that involved wine, but sadly that was mostly inventorying, packing, and moving wine around the state of NY! Got about a dozen cases moved closer to home, so now I'm pretty well set for the next few months of drinking! Next bottle up looks like it might very well be 1987 Dunn Napa Valley. Funny how Dunn was ... Read More

  • Purple Moon Winery Merlot California 2009

    Snoothrank:

Overall, you could do a lot worse than $4 for this. Value-wise it really does deliver. I like the higher tannin and acidity level than one would expect for a CA merlot (especially one that costs $4). Fruit, oak, some spice, and a longer finish than $4 wines usually produce. Read More

  • The discussion about "natural wine" Vs "industrial wine" is really hot in Italy. After hundred of posts, articles and discussion i can resume my opinion: 1) i like good wines, 2) i don't like bad wines, i can just add i particulary love territorial good wines.Too much simple? There's some hot discussion around and not for all the issue is so simp... • Purple Moon Shiraz Manteca California 2005

    Snoothrank:

Tasted like concentrated green pepper juice, mixed with glass cleaner. This wine was terrible. I bought from Trader Joes while on vacation, since we dont have them in Utah. This wine got some decent reviews, so I figured why not. My wife got sick, and I had to spit the wine out. Not sure if it was just a bad bottle, or this is how they all taste... Read More

  • For the price you can't beat Purple Moon Shiraz. It's the only wine I'll buy at this price point but it's not bad to drink as a table wine.
