Established in 1999, the first Poachers Ridge vines were planted in 2000 and the first wines bottled in 2003. Utilising a traditional approach to winemaking and viticulture, Poachers Ridge has adopted its wine to the climatic conditions of the Great Southern Region in Western Australia. We consequently concentrate on Rhone varieties like marsanne, viognier and shiraz. Alex and Janet Taylor purchased the Poachers Ridge property in 1999 and continued the property's previous purpose of cattle grazing. In 2000, 7 hectares of vines were planted, including shiraz, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, riesling, marsanne and viognier. The first small crop was harvested in 2003 with a larger one arriving in 2004. – Description from Dragac
