The total area of the domaine is 11 hectares, distributed in different parcels located in the districts of Monthelie, Pommard, Puligny-Montrachet, and, of course Meursault. All the vineyards were cultivated following organic agricultural practices from 1992 to 1997, at the end of this period the domaine became 100% biodynamic. – Description from Nerevar

  • Thought I'd start a topic to see what "different" wines people are drinking. I've been on a hunt to find wines made from lesser known grapes or from unusual areas. Here's one of each. This is a rose made from Cinsault, not too unusual right? Well this is from the Bekaa Valley in Lebanon. Either they don't make very good wine in Lebanon or this bo... Read More

  • All good things must come to an end. After spending nearly 20 years at Clos de Tart winery in Burgundy's Morey-Saint-Denis, manager and technical director Sylvain Pitiot is saying farewell to the Mommessin family's beloved estate. Pitiot was a  cartographer by trade until he dove into the French wine industry.  He began his career working with C... From the article Burgundy Boss To Step Down In December

  • Continuing the French leitmotiv this weekend. This is a darned good wine.  For the life of me, I don't understand why more U.S. makers refuse to make Chardonnay wine that tastes more like this--light and refreshing--than the butter bombs that they seem to continually crank out.  OK, I know why, because people keep buying that stuff.  Sorry, but ... • Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Rully "Les Cailloux" 2012

Very clear pale yellow color.Quite "fresh," "citrusy" nose. Very delightful on the palate--not terribly fruity, but rather light and refreshing. Crisp acidity was me to continue drinking. This wine exemplifies my position that U.S. producers are missing the boat when it comes to wines made from Chardonnay grapes. US$33.99 at the Wine Club in... Read More

  • Cote-Rotie Domaine Pierre Gaillard 2005

What a beautiful expression of the Cote-Rotie! The quintessential scent of Syrah with Cola, blackberry and bramble is there in abundance. This wine would last another 5 years at least, but works well today with (still) youthful vigor that reminds me of trips to Haida Gwaii and the southern Alaska. What beauty! Only Washington State and British... Read More
