Perfect 10 is a premium wine that strives for perfection. The pacific winds off the coast of California help us craft wines that are simply ‘perfect.’ Only the finest grapes grown in the Monterey and Paso Robles regions are used in making Perfect 10 wines. Both the Chardonnay and Merlot are made in a style that allows the perfectly ripe fruit to shine along a smooth, velvety texture. For centuries, wine lovers have equated a great wine to a beautiful woman. Feminine descriptors such as charm, grace, finesse and character are often used to describe both women and wine. Our ‘classically elegant’ wines have been compared to a beautiful woman, and this comparison became the vision of Perfect 10. The comparison of our wines to beautiful women is also the motivation for each of the elegant label designs. The art depicted on both the Blonde and Brunette labels was painted by an artist exclusively for Perfect 10 wines. Perfect 10 is more than just a wine, it’s a concept. • Unless you bought them with aging potential in mind, a fair few of your 2013 pink and white wines won’t be drinkable by next spring. Guzzle down the last of those quick-to-turn bottles, cellar a few others, and ready yourself for the onset of fall wines. Even if you do not live in a starkly transitional climate, this a great time to think about ... Read More

  • Super light reds sometimes get a poor reputation with serious wine drinkers, partly from a misconception that a good red wine needs to have a rich body and deep concentration. But that is not always true – depending on what we are looking for. Super light reds can give lots of red berry fruit intermixed with other herbaceous and/or spicy notes w... Read More

  • Irancy les Cailles 2009

I bought this bottle of wine from a wine merchant in Sussex [ ] Irancy is an AOC created in 1999 although viticulture in this area goes back to at least the Romans for red wines only from around the village of that name about 8 miles south of the town of Auxerre on the east bank of the river Yonne. The main grape is... Read More

  • If you talk to the right people, you’ll learn very quickly that Portugal has controlled world trade for centuries, and is responsible for a myriad of inventions--including the compass, Christopher Columbus, the best sardines, and the croissant. (French bakers copied the Portuguese technique.) The Portuguese people who spin these tales are a dist... Read More

  • Italians love Champagne. They enjoy an age-old custom of beginning a meal with a conversation and an apertivo. Very often this apertivo takes the shape of an effervescent wine. It has come about that the sparkling wines from Italy’s premier bubbly zone, Franciacorta, emerged from a passion for true French Champagne. We are speaking of the “Champ... Read More

  • Wine is not the first pairing that comes to mind when you’re talking about Brazilian cuisine. Coffee, fruit drinks, cachaça, and beer are all more traditional and have longer histories with the food. Portugal has a long history of wine production, but the first settlers in the 1500s found the northern regions near the equator too hot and too wet... Read More

  • This is pertinent to that other thread I started on product placements (sortof) in movies and TV. But I'm pained to say also deserves posting here because it is actually, at this far into the 21st century, good QPR for Bordeaux reds, whether merlot- or cab-centric. Both are excellent wines in their respective ways, and they were fortunately neve... Read More
