Lynn started Penner-Ash Wine Cellars with husband Ron in 1998, carefully crafting small amounts of Pinot noir and Syrah, while she was still at Rex Hill. Their early success with the label caused them to dream of what they could create and in 2001 they began building the Penner-Ash brand full time. Penner-Ash has achieved impressive growth, going from 125 cases of Pinot noir in 1998 to a projected 8,000 cases of Pinot noir and Syrah in 2007. – Description from Alejandro

Penner-Ash on Snooth

  • The Penner Ash is not Legendary or in the class of other mentioned wines; but the Somm at Marker 88 is a collector/fan of Willamette I kinda knew...  It also didn't hurt that I dined with a Local. Thanks for the waive, I actually believe that 88 does not allow outside bottles. period. And the WL is nothing short. Read More

  • In your strongest opinion? Penner Ash? I'm a little mystified, as always, but I like it when places waive the corkage fee. They usually do when I bring wine, and it's greatly appreciated. OTOH, I don't drink anything legendary, so maybe I'm just not hanging out in the best of places! Read More

  • Penner Ash Riesling 2012

    Snoothrank:

Honeysuckle, almond, mineral, jasmine and lime aromas pop from the glass. A bit soft in the mouth at first, this seems to be lacking a smidge of acidity though its very easy drinking with flavors that have a peachy cast to them. Nice minerality emerges on the mid-palate with some green apple and green nut flavors that yield to a modest, dusty mi... Read More

  • Penner-Ash Riesling Willamette Valley 2011

    Snoothrank:

Focused and a bit tight on the nose, theres some lovely apricot and almond fruit on the nose here along with heather and pollen notes. Modestly sweet on entry with attractive meyer lemon flavors the acidity helps snap this to attention adding in lime peel and green apple flavors over a light raw almond note that plays very well with the fruit.
