The Schatz family has been growing grapes in the Lodi Appellation since the 1950's.  They purchased a special vineyard where the winery is now located which is lined by a historic railroad spur where three packing shed were once located.  In the early 1900’s these packing sheds were common stops for locomotives to load the famous Lodi grapes and ship them to wineries and home winemakers throughout the nation.  Thus, the label Peltier Station emerged in honor of the local history and abounding railroads that helped build California.

Passion for growing grapes evolved into passion for creating great wines and many were crafted from the twelve varietals that are grown in their vineyards. The family’s Italian heritage also brought two unique wines that we share, Teroldego and Vermentino.

Farming “green” has always been a part of the Schatz mission and all of their vineyards are a part of the “Lodi Rules for Sustainable Wine Read more »

  • United States California United States Peltier Station Viognier 2007

    Snoothrank:

Fantastic nose of honeysuckle. Soft and rounded with a sweet floral finish. Nice and fruity, but lower acids mean the wine is rounder than I'd prefer. Read More

Fruity, but not over-the-top fruity like some of the other sirahs from this area. 10 minutes of breathing makes this a sharp, mature tasting wine with an exceptional aftertaste. Read More

    Snoothrank:

This ia not a wine. It is some kind of liquid flower. Most Viognier has that floral nose but taste like some strange Chardonnay. Not this. It tastes like drinking orchids. I'm not a white wine drinker but this is one of my favorites. It has so much WOW factor that you white wine drinkers may have to take some time to appreciate it. (Sorry for be... Read More

Among the most bold viogniers I've tried in many years, this presents with a wonderful bouquet of late spring floral aromas that translate into cream and spice on the palate.Yet, acidic enough to pair well with meats and cheeses alike. Read More

Among the best specimens of this varietal I've had the pleasure of trying! Being unfined and unfiltered, the intensity of this wines big bold flavors intensify with every sip.Tons of berries, and fruit blended with hits of dryness accentuate the drama o f this wine when paired with big spicy dishes.
