It all began in 1927, when my grandfather, Andrew Peller, first arrived in Canada from Hungary. Having owned a series of successful businesses, he came here to finally pursue his dream. He envisioned a day when Canadians, like Europeans, would come to appreciate premium-quality wines and enjoy sharing them with family and friends. After exhaustive research, he decided to plant his first vineyards in British Columbia's Okanagan Valley and, soon afterwards, to open a modest winery in that province as well. As the seeds of his dream were firmly taking root out West, he began looking eastward. Many years and countless setbacks later, he and my father, Joe (who was by then very much involved in the family business), finally made a breakthrough. An offer to purchase a winery and winemaking license in Ontario was accepted in the spring of 1969. – Description from JelaDragoljevic

  • Peller Estates Private Reserve Dry Riesling 2011

This BC Riesling recently won a gold medal at the 2012 Okanagan Wine Festival and also received good scores elsewhere. The nose is redolent of kiwi, citrus fruit and green apple with a hint of petrol. On the palate, there is grapefruit juiciness with excellent balance and good acidity signalling some aging potential. Purchased recently at a mu... Read More

  • Ok, so on to pairing. It was very interesting to me that my bisque paired ... ... pairing for thermidor.- The Peller Estates wine really taught us both a lesson. As I said before - the joke was on me. I have a feeling that it would stand against much of the more expensive wines I've gone through. It did not stand out as a cheap, unbalanced win... Read More

  • Hi! Time for a long overdue update. Unfortunately I will be going from memory ... ... available, in fact - Peller Estates! Just to show that there is really nothing I would dismiss doing when it comes to blind pouring. And this was also planned as kind of a joke given the quality of some of my other wines. But (spoiler alert) - it turned out ... Read More

  • Hi Guys:In my ongoing saga of trying to learn how to cook, I'm planning on giving lobster thermidor a whirl soon. I'd like to pair it with 2-3 wines, mostly as a pairing experiment to see which works best. Any ideas? I was thinking I could potentially combine the dinner with the vintage VS NV champagne combo I've been meaning to do...other ideas... Read More

  • I am a new wine lover. A year or two ago I was having troubles staying away from 'the sauce'.  It wasn't alcoholism, per se, but it was getting to the point where I was spending much of my money and getting very little done. So, being that I am working in a fine dining restaurant, Carnevor Steakhouse in Milwaukee, WI, I decided to begin studying... Read More

  • Peller Estates Ice Cuvee Rose

It is a pretty salmon pink in the glass; not too sweet and soft with gentle sparkle. Summer berries, light peach, and currant flavours: it is a tasty pre-dinner treat. Read More

  • We take day trips to Peller Estates to enjoy the tasting menu and the peaceful setting of the winery. Chef Parsons always has something different or interesting on the menu. The food and wine pairings are delightful. I learn something new every time we are there. Also, they always accommodate for my allergy which I appreciate. Their wine club is...
