The company’s hundred or so hectares of vineyards are tended with the greatest possible care. In the northern estates of the Côtes du Rhône, the wide diversity of terroirs and the influence of micro-climates favours the production of Syrah. This is the principle variety, and the sole red grape, grown by Paul Jaboulet Aîné, while Roussanne, Marsanne and Viognier are used for the white wines. This provides the wines of each appellation with a well-defined personality. Paul Jaboulet Aîné favours traditional vineyard husbandry. Yields are restricted to between 25 and 35 hectolitres per hectare from vines that are on average 40 years old, with the most illustrious being nearly 80 years old. Canopy management, crop thinning, pruning and harvesting are all carried out by hand. Ancestral methods such as the use of hand winches and stake training of vines are still used, all of which requires a skilled, experienced workforce. • Paul Jaboulet Parallele 45 Cotes du Rhone 2007

Smoky, roasted herb and dark black fruits on the nose. Aromas of cedar, spice. Smoky and driven by red berry on the palate with some black berry flavors intermingled. Nice spicy herbal backbone. Savory, with subtle hints of black tea, dried flowers and dried red berry. Nice wine. 86 pts.3/9/13 Read More

  • Paul Jaboulet Aîné Crozes-Hermitage Domaine de Thalabert 2007

The nose showed cherries in fresh turned soil, with notes of undergrowth, candle wax, minerals and floral stems. On the palate it was lean, showing tight blackberry fruit, herbs and hints of stone. The finish was long, with red fruits clinging on the mid-palate. This wine closed in on itself and took six hours, open in bottle, to really show its... Read More

  • Parallèle 45 Ac Rosé 2011

Powdery smelling with notes of talc accenting the leafy apple peel and light red berry fruit of the nose. Bright and fresh on entry, this is fruity in a lovely way, delivering fresh raspberry and cherry flavors sprinkled with a little lime to the palate. The texture is just a touch supple, just a touch grippy. Very middle of the road but satisfy... Read More

Dusty nose with red berry, underbrush. On the palate, cola, sassafrass and musty red fruit. Good balance and flavors remain. Still very nice! 91 pts. 5/26/12 Read More

  • Paul Jaboulet Aine Parallele 45 Cotes du Rhone 2010

A bit of mealy apple on the nose along with dried lemon zest and some nice almost lilac floral tones. Very smooth in the mouth and frankly soft, this is rich and mouth-filling but does lack any sense of definition. Some nice flavors of apple, orange and fennel fronds float around on the palate before disappearing on the short, slight fennel flav... Read More
