Paul Hobbs Winery sprouted from the passion of one man: Paul Hobbs. Paul wasn’t satisfied just becoming Head Enologist of Robert Mondavi’s Opus One in 1981, or becoming Vice-President/Winemaker of Simi Winery in 1989. No, he wanted to create his very own grapes, on his own land. This passion led to the creation of Paul Hobbs Winery in 1991. Focused in the Russian River Valley, each harvest is meticulously captured so as to extract the very best from each grape. This passion started with only three wines in the winery’s repertoire: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Sauvignon, but the winery quickly grew to produce over a dozen wines. Today, Paul Hobbs still consults other wineries around the globe, including wineries in Chile, Argentina, and Hungary.

This put forth a beautiful, ripe cab nose. Gorgeous fruit on this, with lovely florals among the ripe berry tones. It's still pretty, elegant and well structured. Read More

Although this may be a popular style of Pinot Noir, this is not for me. This wine displays cola and dark cherry jam flavors. It is a full flavored style of Pinot Noir with ample body and alcohol. There is some heat on the finish that I don't like. Read More

Managed to get only one bottle of this fabulous '08 Pinot Noir from our future son-in-law for my birthday. We celebrated by pouring this for our daughter, Pam and Matt when he proposed.Only problem it was only a glass apiece! Also had the '09 at a dinner and was almost as good! Read More

This was an interesting wine. Very light for a cab. If I hadn't checked the label a dozen times or more I would have guessed Pinot as often as cab. Very easy drinking and pairs great with hamburgers. Read More
