Parker on Snooth

  • Al, I could be wrong but 100 pt wines are predominantly Napa Cabs, where the reviewers (Parker, Galloni, Spectator) tend to get a little carried away. It's a different ballgame for European wines like these, which are generally held to a much higher standard (graded tougher).I know the Sauzet Batard Montrachet I'm bringing is a 98+ according to ... • Clarendelle Rouge 2010

I don't believe that I am particularly suspicious by nature, but Robert Parker's 90 point score intrigued me. This moderately priced Bordeaux A.C. is sourced at least in part from Pessac-Leognan (owned by Dillon family of Haut-Brion fame) and shows good Merlot character (82%)... a bright cherry nose with prune and wet earth for good measure. E... Read More

  • Yeah, Carter Cellars are a Robert Parker favorite and they're one of those Napa places that push To Kalon fruit so you know they're also pushing the pricing envelope until it breaks.Probably smart to skip those lots and focus on getting some good deals from the Torii Mor offerings. I've only had one or two Torii Mor bottles over the years but ha... Read More

  • Malartic Lagraviere 90js 2005

Well, Chateau Malartic has done Robert Parker proud: the smoky, luscious boudoir-like scent clinging to a bed of plum and cherry (you pick - cherry flan is my choice) is followed by a silky entry of cherry and wild red fruit such as lingonberry. Some tannin for further cellaring, but perfect now. A truly wonderful wine at 11 years. 93 points. Read More
