The site of Paradise Springs Winery lies on 36 acres nestled in the quiet corner of Clifton, VA on the edge of Fairfax County. The property borders Hemlock Regional Park with the Bull Run River flowing only steps through the woods. Originally, the property was part of a one-thousand acre land grant from Lord Fairfax in 1716 to the family’s direct ancestors and has been passed down through the generations since. Several hundred acres still remain in the family today. – Description from ChipDWood

  • Boy, today was just filled with activities.  First we stopped again at Paradise Springs Winery in Clifton VA to pick up a special order wine, then we headed over to Occoquan VA to enjoy lunch at The Bottle Stop, a wine bar that we've been to several times.  Following that it was back home for a few hours and then we went out to dinner and finall... • Nice to see folks enjoying some quality wines.  We've been to the Veritas winery - last year in August I believe.  I also tend to open more of the special wines on the weekend, but we do have a few special ones we're saving for something big.  Maybe Sandra's retirement on the 1st of November is a good reason.  Works for me.Yesterday we attended ... • I have been feeling guilty of not doing much around the house lately - oh I'm not talking about having things done by others, but having me actually do the work.  Sure I cut the lawn each week and little things like that, but there are many rooms yet to paint in this house.  It's just hard to get started with painting because I really don't like... • Yes, Virginia does have a nice collection of wineries to visit. Sarah, you appear to like sweet wines and I started out that way - specifically with plum wines from the grocery store.  Most Virginia wineries offer a sweet wine or two, generally as a desert wine.  What part of Virginia are you from?  I'm close to Washington DC, more specifically ... • I used to think I just didn't like wine, but after finding one made from my FAVORITE grape on earth, the scuppernong/muscadine that happened to be made near where I lived, I fell into a snuggly affair with that one, the Duplin Hatteras Red and decided to try a few more.  So far, the only other wine I've tried and liked enough to purchase again i... • I should say that we've only been interested in collecting wine in a wine cellar for about three years.  We were drinking wine now and then back to the 1990's but only owned a few bottles at any one time.  It was Sandra's idea to have enough wine that we could lay a bottle down for a few years and once reaching critical mass, we would pull older... • Due to popular demand (don't ask where that demand came from or you'll spoil my fun), we appear to need some new wine discussion topics.  This topic was only relevant to Thursday as a test case but was subsequently expanded to cover the weekend too.  What ever you bring up in this topic should either occur on a Thursday - Sunday, or it could be ... • I was wondering what sort of new topic I could start that would pair nicely with my previous posting 'Weekday Wines'; well here it is - Weekend Wines.  Sometimes I just have to stop and take a minute to pat myself on the back for my quick wit but alas, this isn't one of those times.  Anyway, why not talk about wines we enjoy on weekends?  These ...
