  • Panilonco Reserva Carmenere

    Snoothrank:

A young, raw lightly oaked Carmenere 2011 Reserva from Trader Jose at 3.99. Yeasty first impression that cleared up after fifteen minutes into strong ripe blackberry and light lemon-grass, some piquance, but no mint. Reminds me of going sfuso by the cask while at school in Florence. A decent wash of a table wine with pasta, sausage and pepp... Read More

  • I over heard a woman in a grocery store who had just returned from Chile that went to a wine tasting where all they served was Paniloco wines. And she said that people were going crazy for them down there, so as soon as she returned to the states she went to Trader Joe's and loaded up her cart.

  • I discovered the Panilonco Merlot Malbec, and the Carmenere about 7 years ago at Trader Joe's in Scottsdale AZ. And let me tell you, you will not find a better bottle of wine for the price. They have incredible color. aroma, body, and texture. What a mouthful! I have been drinking a bottle a day ever since.

  • Panilonco Reserve Carmenere 2010

    Snoothrank:

Deep dark purple in the glass, but it's all downhill from there. Disturbing viney, vegetative aromas. Tip of the tongue starts out pleasant--fruity--but, then, here comes the viney, olivey flavors as the wine travels over the tongue and through the palate. This wine reminds me of the terrible California Merlots that were foisted on us 15 or s... Read More
