Otazu
Señorío de Otazu has revived an activity that dates back to the 12th century whose heritage it wishes to preserve. Centuries after the Middle Ages, when the first signs of the existence of the Romanesque church of San Esteban are dated, they have created new winemaking spaces to produce wines of exquisite quality from the historical tradition of respect for the environment.
Today, the Señorío de Otazu upholds the legacy and heritage of its first inhabitants in the late Middle Ages when, oddly enough, wine was not lacking in any table. It was in fact quite common in the illustrious rooms of king Carlos III of Navarre (1387-1425) —known as ‘the Noble’ for his passion for the winds of peace during a period of history beset by war and for his enthusiasm for art and culture.
Today, one can still find several buildings on the grounds that have witnessed the passing of many centuries but, above all, there is the atmosphere framed by mountains, the spirit of men, of all of humanity that looks at the land as a source of life, that sees in its view of nature and history an essential prerequisite for the future.
