  • Building a cellar isn’t always about laying down the most expensive wines ... a dash of sweet ripe herbs.Olga RaffaultBernard Baudry4.) MenciaMany people have compared Spain’s Mencia grape to Cabernet Franc, and for the puroses of this discussion that comparison is pretty fair. I don’t find much similarity between the two grapes, except that th... Read More

An excellent wine by any standards. Fruity on the nose with smoky aromas, rich yet well-balanced and fresh on the palate thanks to a subtle acidity, a pleasant length to make the pleasure last. Tasted on the terrasse of Le Choiseul, in Amboise, on a beautiful, memorable day in April 2009... Read More

tasted on 8/22/09 still fresh, lively core, a nose of dust, taste of iron, rind, and earth. After about 4 hours of decanting , filled with odds and sods, wanting more fruit. it doesn't come in, but the length and subtleties increases, with a touch of sweetness at the finish. Interesting, but makes me want just something a little more. Read More

Interesting - very dry Italian like (almost) - good nose at first - great taste at first but then... a bit dry and the fruit disappeared - not bad though at all - very good for the price - interesting wine - very earthy and lots of minerals - needs some time - we have another bottle and will more than likely like it better in time - Read More

  • Recently I have been getting more and more into straight Cab Franc. I think it's quite possibly my favorite Bordeaux varietal. Many of the people I have spoken with about it criticize it for it's one-dimensional quality, which is perhaps why it blends so well with other bordeaux grapes (it offers what the others lack). For me what I love is the... Read More

Typically very weedy on the nose with sweet currant and red berry fruit then sottobosco scents with unusual tones of canvas. Rich and round with particularly fine balance and great length to the earthy, slightly herbal yet very ripe red currant fruits. 91pts Read More
