It is with great excitement that we announce the second release of Oakville East – Exposure Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2005 vintage has been our darling since it was first tasted as grape juice after the crush. The wine captures the essence of one of the most celebrated sub-regions of the Valley, and once again our northwest exposure insured completely mature grapes in spite of the record breaking crop load. The result is a cabernet with the same elegance and soft integrated tannins as our inaugural 2004 vintage, but with more defined middle pallet. Part of the change can be attributed to the inclusion of a small amount of Cabernet Franc from the Saunder’s (20+ year old vines) vineyard that has become part program with the 2005 vintage. Another factor that will help define our vintages now and into the future is our movement through sustainable green agriculture techniques to organic and biodynamic farming practices. We certainly hope you enjoy our new release, but please be aware that the 2005 Oakville Read more »

I paired it with a skirt steak and the amount of tannins cut through perfectly. There is a large amount of sediment already in here after I decanted with ... Read More

This is serious stuff. It started with the impenetrable wax coating over the bottle neck that took a while to gnaw through. Upon finally getting a whiff of the nectar that lay inside I feared that I had opened this bottle too early. Several hours of decanting (and one juicy burger) later I realized that there was no error made.Sweet red fruits (... Read More

  • I was recently asked the rather broad question: Can you explain what the different regions / climates of California are, and how they affect the wine's characteristics?Impossible to answer in a single post, but here's some thoughts:The weather remains an important key to wine quality. It is so influential that only certain wine types can be grow... Read More
