Most all age-worthy wines will have high acid, tannin, ... Read More

  • One of our charming new posters, cysurvivor, was fishing for recommendations here for a visit over MLK weekend.  Since we're all pretty free with our half-baked ideas and opinions, we had plenty of ideas for him, didn't we?  Since Mauritson kept showing up on the list, it looked like it would make the final cut, so I went on private messaging an... • Ok, new year and time for a new topic of discussion.  Just yesterday I opened this Pinot Noir from California that initially sounded promising.  First  - it was given to Sandra as a retirement gift so it was free.  Second - a Pinot Noir bottled in St. Helena CA, so it has to be decent, right? and Third - a nice looking label.  Well, this 2014 Me... • HI.  Thanks for the response.  I was planning on trying to make appointments at wineries so being able to drop in is not essential to us. Below are some of the wineries/tasting rooms I've come across in my searches that I'm considering.  However, I don't know what to make a priority and I'm sure I'm missing others I should consider.  Healdsburg:... • Hi everyone.  This is my first post on the boards.  My wife and I are doing a long weekend in Healdsburg (Jan 15-17) and Yountville (Jan 17-19) over MLK weekend and were looking for some recommendations on wineries to visit.  We tend to like more full bodied red wines, but are open to other wines as well. We are from New York and want to focus o... Read More

  • On and off with differing frequency mention is made on these boards of garnacha as a choice for certain palates, and in certain contexts. Most of the mention here is pretty generic, and doesn't get down to any level of detail.Would like to suggest we take up the subject of wines from this grape with better focus. Where is good, who makes the goo... Read More
