  • So on a whim we decided to visit British Columbia. But we flew up to Washington, so visited a few places there too. Totally off the subject of wine, I found an awesome bakery in Spokane and the girl there served me this thing that I thought was a kind of Parmesan cheese foam. In fact it was fermented cashew whip, which was definitely weird, but ... Read More

  • One of my goals for 2019 was to read more of wine books. It's a resolution to which I've stuck, and more of my recent favorites will be shared with you here in the coming months. Today's selection is Around the World in Eighty Wines by Mike Veseth. Inspired by the Jules Verne classic, Around the World in Eighty Days, Veseth takes us from Algeria... Read More

  • One of the few real bargains left in France are found in the southern Rhone and Bouche du Rhône and fall under the appellation Cotes du Rhône and Cotes du Rhône-Villages.  These wines are delicious whether red or white, and are still affordable at good price to quality ratios.  Their copies in Australia, South Africa, Australia and North America... • Yes, I too can appreciate most wines... even those (if vinified properly and with some love) made with French and German hybrid or accidental crosses (e.g. Marechal Foch, Chelois, de Chaunac, Chancellor, Norton).  I have never tried Norton, but is said to be quite good... although the parentage seems vague, with some European and North American ... • This Topic is partially intended to start a new thread on daily wine drinking as the earlier topics are just too long and too general.  How about telling us more about your choices and helping me start a new thread for the next generation, so to speak?  The "why" is the interesting part for some of us - but pictures are always welcome; after all... • I was in Tuscany three years ago on a Master of Wine trip and after three solid days of tasting red wine our faces lit up as we were served Franciacorta on arrival at a late afternoon winery. • The history of Zinfandel in America can be traced back to Italian Immigrants who planted it all over California for a number of reasons including its hearty nature.
