Clos de la Bergerie from Nicolas Joly that recently sold at an Acker Auction for $45/btl (including premium), which is the same price one might find a current vintage. • My boyfriend and I will be taking a trip to France in about a month and we will be spending 2 days in the Loire Valley. Has anyone been wine tasting in the Loire Valley who could give me recommendations on which wineries to visit? It's okay if the good ones are off the beaten path as we will have a rental car and I would rather go out of my wa... Read More

  • I'm curious as to what everyone here buys to store at the back of their cellar (ie long life wines)?I'm just starting to getting into wine seriously and so most of what is in my cellar is short term stuff. My first longer term purchase has so far been 1 dozen of 2007 Craggy Range Gimblett Gravels Te Kahu. I had the fortune to try this at a tastin... Read More

  • Nicolas Joly Coulée de Serrant Blanc Val de Loire Savennières Coulée de Serrant France 100 Biodynamie 2003

An exceptionel thick and yellow wine, with very small hints of botrytis. Not in the sauternes or eiswine way, but in its own fat dry style. This must be the closest you get to liquid gold. Tasted in 2007 (Sorry Nicolas but I had tor try it) it was chewy, siropy and very powerfull and not a normal Chenin Blanc product. This is incredible. Read More

  • I´ve read a lot lately on biodynamic wines and how the position of the moon and other things can affect the vines growth or even the wine tasting, mostly on phylosophical grounds believing that "Biodynamics takes organic farming practices and wraps them as broader conception of the farm / the vineyard as a coherent organism, where inputs and out... • Nicolas Joly Savennières-Coulée de Serrant Clos de la Coulée de Serrant 1998

A stunning wine, less oxidized than one would have anticipated. Heady honey blossom jumped from the glass teasing you to taste it. Sweet viscosity covers the mouth, from the top of your cheeks to the back of your tongue which races down your throat leaving still taut acidity. The wine was decanted for nine hours prior to tasting. On a second... Read More
