Begun in 1992 by Bruce and Barbara Neyers, Neyers Vineyards produces about 15,000 cases of wine annually. About 25% of our production is Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grown on our 50-acre, organically farmed Conn Valley ranch. The vineyard is managed by Maldonado Vineyard Management. We purchase additional grapes from a select group of growers, among them the Sangiacomo family of the Carneros District, Will Nord of Napa, Cam Thieriot of Sonoma Coast, Lee Hudson of Carneros, Jay and Pam Heminway of Chiles Valley, Rich Pato of Oakley, and the Tofanelli family of Calistoga. Winemaker Tadeo Borchardt joined us in 2004 after several years of experience in the industry making wine in both California and New Zealand. He's a Cum Laude graduate of the University of Arizona, a zealous advocate of our natural winemaking practices and an enthusiastic supporter of our appreciation for traditionally produced European wines. He brings with him a valuable combination of technical know-how and respect for tradition. Consulting winemaker Ehren Jordan returned to the Napa Valley in 1994 following a two-year stint in the Northern Rhone town of Cornas, where he worked for Jean-Luc Columbo, one of the most respected Read more »

With every PTP there tends to be a few wines at both end of the spectrum that are really divisive. This weeks event was no different and in fact several of the wines really... Read More

  • Neyers Syrah Napa Valley 2006

    Snoothrank:

A nice nose with some sweet, woody spices but also fine plum and slightly candied dark cherry fruit. With air this really picks up a lot of candied ginger though, a touch of game and roasted green herb and sassafras edge are lurking Very fluid in the mouth, fairly noticeable acids and polished tannins support a big somewhat spicy bitter cherry ... • Neyers Syrah Napa Valley 2006

    Snoothrank:

Ruby red color. Aroma is bright, slightly heated with a nice scent of blackberry jam. Flavors are potent, very bright ripe cherries with tannins hiding away until the finish, where they feature prominently alongside black licorice and leather. Read More

  • Well I have plans to include several Syrahs in this thread over the next 2 weeks but let me begin with one of my favorite Syrah producers. J L Chave and his lovely 1996 Hermitage:Richly aromatic from the moment this is opened offering up an array of gamy tones to the earthy, blackberry fruit. Integrated in the mouth with the acidity seemingly qu... Read More
