Mike started his winemaking career under the direction of Thomas Brown in 2001. Traveling from Portland Oregon, Mike worked each crush "free of charge" to learn his craft. Following his 3rd harvest, Mike accepted a full-time assistant position from Thomas and moved his family to St. Helena. Today, Mike continues to work with Thomas on several labels( i.e. Schrader, Rivers-Marie, Maybach & Tamber Bey.) The Myriad wines are custom crushed along side these greats...showcasing Mike's talents and stylistic "purist" approach to winemaking. – Description from Dragac

  • According to a YouGov poll, forty-one percent of Americans enjoy wine with Thanksgiving dinner. It's no wonder we spend so much time planning our drink menus. Turkey Day wines have been discussed on Snooth at length over the past ten years. Tastes have evolved to include more than just the mainstays. Traditions have been shattered, and most meal... • Myriad Cellars Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Cabernet Sauvigon 2013

    Snoothrank:

Very attractive red plum color. Dark brooding nose. On the tongue I get the hoped-for CS black fruit. However, it is quite muted--no sweetness. Then I get something like pencil lead. Some salinity. Im finding this wine not nearly as tannic as I might have guessed. Tart acid makes me want another sip. Read More

  • Myriad Semillon Tofanelli Vineyard Napa Valley 2016

    Snoothrank:

VERY refreshing. Nice entry of unsweetened tropical fruitpineapple, bananaand, maybe, even, green apple. Green apple may come from acidic tartness. I am really getting tingling on the top of my tongue from the acid. Im now getting lemon zest. Great summer sipper. Read More

  • Myriad Cabernet Sauvignon Three Twins Vineyard 2012

    Snoothrank:

Fresh fruity nose. Gentle entry that suggests berry fruitcurrant, blueberrybut only suggests. Some suggestion of slate. Interesting retro-nasal sensation of earthiness. Surprisingly (to me) light on tannins. A bit more tartness on the rear palate than I would normally like. Very pleasant finish where the earthiness continues. A very enjoy... Read More

  • Just got another box of Mike Smith's wines, and have noticed the ABV's are in a reasonable space for today's super ripe Napa market. Maybe it's just the wines I tend to buy from Mike's labels, as he has said he likes the challenge of making higher ABV wines drink in a balanced way. This could have been a PM to OT, but I figured others would be in... • Myriad Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2014

    Snoothrank:

Nose of dark fruit and, maybe, prune. Typical CS currant on the tip of the tongue. Some dustiness. Sturdy tannins. I was eager to open this one up. I may have been over eager. My remaining bottles will remain sideways for quite some time. Read More
