  • DM - as you know, it's originally from Spain in Aragon. It was the most ... all things French, and then Mondavi and the Paris tasting, and suddenly Americans are increasingly interested in wine. The Europeans, still rebuilding in the 1960s, looked to the US market. Parker arrives, lauds CdP and it transforms from peasant wine to something coll... Read More

  • On and off with differing frequency mention is made on these boards of garnacha as a choice for certain palates, and in certain contexts. Most of the mention here is pretty generic, and doesn't get down to any level of detail.Would like to suggest we take up the subject of wines from this grape with better focus. Where is good, who makes the goo... Read More

  • It's interesting that a few new topics have popped up recently (Experiencing Cabernet Franc for one) and that my wife Sandra just today handed me an article by Dave McIntyre she cut out of a Washington Post newspaper dated 25 March 2015.  I'm starting this new topic based on this article "The wine cost four digits.  And the taste?" regarding the... • Robert Mondavi Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon California 2012

Molasses and red berry aromas to start here with a mix of cream and butter softening the nose. A bit more acidity in the mouth showing a freshness here and more ripe cherry, raspberry and also some black currant and a hint of eucalyptus on the finish.88 pts Read More

  • For me it certainly is based on principle, but the reality sometimes can be a ... a ... cab and a 1994 Robert Mondavi reserve cab back to back, I think we tried to be reverent and let them be what they were, which was sublime.  I think we did have an Amarone after them, but not to outdo them.  We have actually had a Pinot last, but mainly bec... • Robert Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon North Coast Coastal 2013

Purpulish hued and light just barely goes through this one....slightly boozy in the nostrils and fruit forward for a Cab. The taste follows closely and the finish is slightly buttery, yet clean with many berries....a decent Cab for the price! Read More

  • As a rule of thumb I decant every wine bottle north of $50 for at least 45 mins. During the 45 mins we usually enjoy half a glass of a daily drinker to get our palate ready for the really good stuff. Thoughts on this approach would be great? What's your approach other than PNP.....   Read More

  • I love the RM Cabs for everyday drinkers. All of them are full without being too big for my non-cab friends. All vintages go great with filet or burgers and the price point is usually sub $20. The special reserve cab is my fav.
