  • Hi guys, it's me again... crazy Brazilian-New Yorker chick asking for advice on wine travel...So I will have 4 full days in the area (May 14-17) and wanted to pick your brains for anything amazing and cost-beneficial you can come up with (except for hotels, I could care less about where I stay, all money goes to wine!).For timing reasons, my mai... • Stand by my statement, OT, especially after the dozen or more different ... ... ... for the product....The Mondavi reserve Fume Blanc on that same list is a more honest product (or was last time I drank some which was before that vintage). Would be interesting to do a tasting with both of them in the lineup, but then I'd want to pull in plent... Read More

  • Robert Mondavi Winery Pinot Noir California Coastal 2011

    Snoothrank:

A decent table wine. A little sharp, which you'd expect from this price wine, but the flavor is very bright and soft. I was given this at a museum function. I would like to serve it with a sharp cheddar or bold bleu some evening hanging out with friends. Read More

  • So I have had a ton or two of To Kalon wines over the years, some from makers ... hype--it was just one of the Mondavi and BV parcels and, along with grapes from Hendry, made up Mondavi's reserve (and even quite a bit of the regular Napa Valley) back in the day.  If you grew up where I did with wine loving parents and their friends, you drank ... • OH YEA- The Barnett Rattlesnake Hill is an absolutely sensuous ... Leap, Joseph Phelps, BV and Mondavi reserve releases etc.. I have sworn off CA and domestic Merlot as they are ,,to me, fruit bombs. For Merlot Ill stick with Pomerol, St Emilion   and other claret style blends. The Col Solare I have, 07, is holding up very nicely and still need... Read More

  • I am a life long wine enthusiast with a preference for Bordeaux, particularly if consumed at maturity. I do enjoy wines from other parts of the world but find I like the ones that have a claret style best. I dislike CA/domestic  fruit bombs that seem so prevalent and popular in the U S.My bias toward Bordeaux was probably set when a friend of mi... Read More

  • A oak A - the fact that it said Burgundy on the bottle is entirely irrelevant. ... NY for home wine makers. The Mondavi family was part of that. And even today, Abe Schoener is making wine in Brooklyn from grapes shipped all the way from CA! There's a place called "City Winery" that is kind of a custom crush facility just north of Canal street... Read More

  • Cool, I'm looking forward to getting my bottles.  Christy is the host, ... one of those outfits like Mondavi (pre-Constellation sale) that manage to be big and to maintain high quality.  My go-tos have been Monsanto and Molino di Grace over the last few years, with the odd bottle of other things when those aren't readily available.  What will b... • I love the RM Cabs for everyday drinkers. All of them are full without being too big for my non-cab friends. All vintages go great with filet or burgers and the price point is usually sub $20. The special reserve cab is my fav.
