Mondavi on Snooth

  • Cool, I'm looking forward to getting my bottles.  Christy is the host, ... one of those outfits like Mondavi (pre-Constellation sale) that manage to be big and to maintain high quality.  My go-tos have been Monsanto and Molino di Grace over the last few years, with the odd bottle of other things when those aren't readily available.  What will b... • A quiet evening out here in Northern Virginia.  It's cold again (25 F ... lesser wine, the 2013 Robert Mondavi Private Selection Cabernet Sauvignon that is obviously too young and no where nearly as nice as that Antica cab.  Well, it's best to taste the most expensive wines first - before you start to feel the effects and not care quite so muc... • Sometimes I have to think a minute about what sort of wine would be appropriate with an activity, rather than a certain meal.  I mean, you might pour a glass of wine without any thought given to a food stuff that might be consumed while you enjoy the wine. For instance, I could come home and find one of our cats sleeping on the couch in the fami... • Hey, I hear that VTs are coming back, with one scheduled for March!  Not to steal the thunder, so I won't leak what the region/grape is going to be (regulars, watch your mail boxes if you live in the US), but it's going to be good if my inbox is any indication.I'm opening up the floor to ask the question, "Who do you think will be the host?"  Ma... • Emark - there was no such thing as a tasting room before Mondavi. His family was in the business, but the business was small potatoes. The US had a wine industry, but wine was never a big deal for Americans. Americans drank liquor, usually corn liquor. Remember the Whiskey Rebellion? Washington himself was a big distiller. Jefferson drank wine b... Read More

  • I love the RM Cabs for everyday drinkers. All of them are full without being too big for my non-cab friends. All vintages go great with filet or burgers and the price point is usually sub $20. The special reserve cab is my fav.
