Our Philosophy is to produce wines whose characteristics faithfully represent that variety of provenance, as well as their terroir, but in which the hints of wood are never underscored; that they be rich, highly elegant and never nauseous wines. The wine brings with it a precious baggage of qualitative features, which derive from the grape variety and the terroir of provenance: we are fully committed to ensuring that all said characteristics remain integral and do not diminish or undergo modifications, thus we limit our actions to those strictly necessary, using delicate procedures, aware that every clarification, filtration or other intervention subtracts a part of the wine's qualitative characteristics. Pressing is carried out by means of soft presses so as not to tear the skins; fermentation comes about exclusively at controlled temperatures programmed for each wine, so as to preserve the precious perfumes and original flavours; the extraction of the anthocyans and polyphenols from black grapes Read more »

Really outstanding Barbera, with a fantastic aroma of cherries and ripe fruit. Medium bodied with fine tannins. Great QPR at under $13. Read More

  • Had some neighbors over Friday for an Italian themed potluck. Good thing I have neighbors who can cook and who appreciate my wine...makes for a nice group effort. Not much time to go over everything in detail, but I continue to enjoy 2011 Barbera d'Alba, and also the 2011 Tommasi Soave that I picked up last minute was a real surprise. I'll be buy... Read More

  • Michele Chiarlo 2001

Leather and sulphur dominate the nose along with hints of fish sauce and burnt meat. Graceless and extracted in the mouth this is a bit medicinal but otherwise mostly detail-lees and heavy on the palate with a burning, oily finish. 70pts Read More

  • Michele Chiarlo 2000

Very pretty on the nose, with aromas of soft cherry, fresh herbs, shoe polish and braised fennel accented with hints of roses and iron. Silky on entry, this shows fine balance with a nice transparent core of wild cherry fruit accented with hints of leather and medicinal herbs. Rather light on its feet, this tapers off on a soft finish rich soil ... Read More

It is served warm. Also, it doesn't say what kind of vinegar to use and I'm thinking sherry. what do you think? Read More

  • Michele Chiarlo 2010

Drink Now- The 2010 Barbera dAsti Superiore Le Orme is an attractive, fleshy wine loaded with class and personality, especially within its price range. Clean, mineral notes frame expressive dark fruit in this vibrant, highly appealing Barbera. This is a highly representative example of the taut style of Barbera that emerges from Asti. Anticipate... • Michele Chiarlo 2007

D/H 2012-2022- The 2007 Barolo Tortoniano is quite bold and powerful in this vintage. It reveals surprising muscle to match its dark red fruit, flowers and spices. As always, the Tortoniano shows the more perfumed, feminine side of Barolo, but the 2007 has an extra level of richness and body. This is a gorgeous, overachieving wine in its categor... Read More
