Established in 1993, Matthews Estate is located in the heart of the Woodinville Wine Country. The boutique winery is owned by two local families and focuses on maintaining production of bordeaux style and single varietal vineyard designated wines, using grapes grown in Washington State from vineyards that have experience and respect for nature and soil. The winery and winemaker, Aryn Morell, believe that there is a deep and tangible link between the vines, hills, winegrowers and winemakers, and carries this proof of affinity into every aspect of winemaking: from the vineyard to the cellar, from the vine to the wine bottle. The many and numerous accolades we receive from the public and wine world alike are an undeniable proof and future motivation to us. – Description from dvoristanac

Nose of red currant, Bing cherry, plum jam and ripe figs. Tightly structured nose. On the palate, toasted bread and nutmeg with currant and plum. Elegantly structured red and black fruit with power behind it. Very dry. Toasty espresso and cocoa finish. Really nice!92 pts.8/12/11 at Winery Read More

  • Hi All,   I have a few thoughts/questions that I would appreciate comments on. I have been some-what seriously drinking wine for about eight years now. I am 61 years old and before the "wine enlightenment", drank mostly micro-brewery and other not so chic types of beer. Every year now for the past four, I have held a blind tasting of different r... • Matthews Columbia Valley 2001

    Snoothrank:

Magnificent wine! Rich, plump berry flavors greet you and the wine blankets your palette in a fruit forward wine that is quickly backed up by ripe tannins working in perfect harmony. It's a bigger wine, as cabs from WA tend to be, so it's best suited with food in my opinion. It was fabulous right out of the bottle. I have had two bottles thu... Read More
