Established in 1896 by Giovanni Massolino, the winery has been dedicated to the production of great wines from the Langhe area for four generations and currently three generations are involved in the day to day winemaking activities. Today Giuseppe Massolino, who was one of the founders of the Consorzio Barolo e Barbaresco, oversees his sons Giovanni and Renato, who split responsibilities for the vineyards and the cellar management, while Giovanni's son, Franco, is the winemaker. Over the years, the name Massolino has become synonymous with robust, concentrated and well structured Barolo. – Description from jeffmeisel

  • Just went to look at ordering the Massolino Barolo, and now I know that the straight Barolo and Barolo Serralunga d'alba are the same thing. Unfortunately, Vinopolis appears to be sold out of the 2010 @ $39, and the 2011 @ $33. Other options, less appealing. Read More

    Snoothrank:

Aged in concrete and in SSFinely focused on the nose with floral laced high toned, black fruit. In the mouth one finds a clean and fresh feel that shows off the classic weight of Barbera. Theres just a hint of flesh, soft tannins, good obvious but not high acid all supporting lovely pure of fruit on the palate. Finishing firmly this unfolds in ... Read More
