Mas des Dames
Mas des Dames is a former 18th century farmhouse surrounded by 14 hectares of vines, in the hillsides behind Beziers, Southern France. Where the Languedoc is often a 'sea' of vineyards, in this hidden valley we where lucky to still find the ancient structure of small plots, surrounded by a natural flora. This 'garrigue' of oak, olive and pinetrees creates a natural balance in vineyards, enabling us to do without any insecticides and just minimal treatments against illnesses. We never used chemical fertilizers and do without any irrigation. Reason why the yields are low (about 35kl/ha), but of a nicely concentrated quality. A label for organic farming is pending.
