MARTIN ESTATE produces an ultra premium balanced Cabernet Sauvignon. Not a cookie cutter wine that followes the herd, this is a wine for people that enjoy the taste of fruit versus heavy oak and high alcohol.

The massive pre-prohibition Chateau was built in 1887 by pioneer vintner Henry H. Harris. The winery, which is not open to the public,  is located in Block B of the original Caymus Land Grant in the heart of Napa Valley's famous Rutherford Appellation. Martin Estate wines are estate grown, produced and bottled, and releases are limited to the yield of the eight acre first growth Puerta Dorada Vineyard that surrounds the Estate.

Award winning winemaker Aaron Pott is in charge of the state of the art winery and vineyard. The wines are terroir driven, reflecting the sense of place where they originated. "Do you know where your wine has been? " (R)  And don't believe the map as that is not the correct location.

  • Wine myths are often unspoken but incredibly pervasive. Their looming presence may prevent wine novices from feeling confident about how they drink. Most would agree that wine experiences are best enjoyed with friends, but myths can hinder otherwise joyous wine drinking occasions. “Sparkling wine MUST be enjoyed in a flute glass, or else!” “Wine... • Regardless of the Barolo's style, you'll get more of its potential out of of a 15-year-old Bordeaux or CA cab than you will out of any serious four or five year old Nebbiolo from the Piedmont. Plus if you insist on drinking 3 to 4 year old wines, how will your palate have a chance to evolve? Decanting is not the be all and end all and certainly ... Read More

  • Unless you bought them with aging potential in mind, a fair few of your 2013 pink and white wines won’t be drinkable by next spring. Guzzle down the last of those quick-to-turn bottles, cellar a few others, and ready yourself for the onset of fall wines. Even if you do not live in a starkly transitional climate, this a great time to think about ... Read More
