The Marchesi de' Frescobaldi is one of the most significant wine producers in Italy, with nine estates, and more than 1,000 hectares, in Tuscany. The family has been growing wine since the early 14th century, when they became the first in Tuscany to import and plant French vine cuttings. Because they have been producing wines for more than 700 years, to experience Frescobaldi is to glimpse the history of Florence, from the Middle Ages to the present day. The core wine growing philosophy of the Marchesi de’ Frescobaldi revolves around the integrated relationship among environment, vine, climate, and man’s intervention. They continually upgrade their extensive vineyard holdings, and they craft their wines with the finest combination of traditional and innovative methods. Wine Spectator has ranked many of their offerings in the 90s and their wines are consistently listed in the magazines Top 100 Wines of the Year, encouraging wine enthusiasts from around the globe to become familiar with Read more »

  • Castello di Nipozzano Chianti Rufina Riserva Tuscany 2010

    Snoothrank:

This popular Frescobaldi Chianti Classico has a beautiful nose of cherry, cedar, mushroom and fruit lollypop; the wine has a smooth, cherry-flan entry and a very balanced flavour and finish. Well made and an excellent bargain - if you can find it - from a great vintage. 89 points. Read More

  • Castelgiocondo Brunello di Montalcino Italy 2007

    Snoothrank:

Notes of raspberry and blackberries combine with a great earthiness and a neat salty/briny edge (we were reminded of fresh seafood). Very layered and complex with lots soft plush tannins. On the palate there is more of the same with a similar fresh green/salty briny edge that we enjoyed. Also some violet/floral notes. Medium bodied, moderate len... Read More

  • Marchesi De' Frescobaldi Nipozzano Riserva Chianti Rufina Js 2008

    Snoothrank:

D/H 2013-2020- The 2008 Chianti Rufina Riserva Nipozzano is a very beautiful wine in this vintage. It shows attractive mid-palate juiciness in its sweet red berries, crushed flowers and spices. This mid-weight, delicate Chianti is best enjoyed over the next few years while the fruit retains its freshness. The Nipozzano is 90% Sangiovese and 10% ... Read More

  • Marchesi De' Frescobaldi Brunello di Montalcino Castelgiocondo 1988

    Snoothrank:

So in the glass, the wine was a bright ruby color, with a bit of cloudiness. The nose was a nice combination of leather, dry spice and floral notes. The taste was actually somewhat of a surprise, particularly how much fruit was left after a quarter century. Up front the taste was quite peppery, but the spice quickly transitioned int some nice ...
