Mogen David is an American fortified wine with an ABV of 13-20%, and is the “pride of Westfield, New York.” Nicknamed “Mad Dog 20/20,” this is the quintessential “bum wine,” said to be as “majestic as the cascading waters of a drain pipe.” “Inexpensive” is another polite description for this beverage, which is available in Banana Red, Kiwi Lemon, Orange Jubilee, Strawberry Kiwi, Lightning Creek, Ruby Grapefruit, and the classic Red Grape flavors. The wines have the mouthfeel of a Persian cat, with a similarly sharp, agonizing, and flat-faced finish. Recommended pairings: foraged marshmallows cooked over an open flame garbage receptacle, dentist’s toothpaste, and proximity to potable water.

  • I grew up on a farm.  Farmers kill themselves to survive and we support each other by buying locally.  I am from CA and I have been drinking wine predominately from Napa, Sonoma and Carneros since I was 21.  The point is, when I am studying for this WSET exam and being told that the best expression of every premium wine is found in some AOC in F... • What's the worst wine you have ever had? I had some Don Luciano Shiraz over the weekend (which is a $4.00 wine I picked up at Wal-Mart...just to see). I had had the Don Luciano Chardonnay and it was OK, but the Shiraz I had smelled like road kill (very heavy sulfur)--I wonder if I got a bad bottle.  Has anyone else tried it? Read More
