Luca is a winery founded by Laura Catena (of the prestigious Argentinian winemaking family), named for her son, in Mendoza, Argentina. The focus is on small batch, artisanal quality wines that showcase the individual terroirs of Mendoza, produced at a state-of-the-art facility. Luis Reginato is principal winemaker. Luca produces Chardonnay, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Malbec and the Beso de Dante Malbec/Cabernet Sauvignon blend.

Luca on Snooth

  • Luca Laborde Double Select Syrah 2010

    Snoothrank:

A nice whiff of bacon fat greets the nose along with a hint of rubber eraser over attractively peppery blueberry and black plummy fruit. Rather broad and a bit matte in the mouth, this delivers some rich black raspberry and boysenberry flavors in the mouth over a firm base of well-concealed oak along with nice violet and mineral accents. Dry and... Read More

  • Luca Malbec 2009

    Snoothrank:

Intense violet brigth color. On the nose some cristallized red fruit like plum and agras, very fruity wine. Some velvety tanins with the rigtha acidity, ligth body and again very fruity on the palate (it has 14 months on french new oak barrel). Some toffe on the after-taste. (Not my tipe of malbec). Deffinately will eat it with an Argentinian St... Read More

  • Luca Malbec Nico 2006

    Snoothrank:

Deep, dark coloryou could use it in an inkwell! Dense and concentrated but never loses its ability to exude the red and black fruits and spice that are the true expression of Malbec in Mendoza. This is a huge wine that is a blend of old-vine grapes from 2 of Mendozas most respected growers, located in two different districts. Only 4 barrels prod... Read More

I have tasted all of the range of wines that Gian Luca Morino produces at Nizza Monferrato Piemonte. This is a great Barbera, ripe red fruit, big strawberry, smooth, and juicy, a really well made wine- good finish. GL is also doing an almost first with his Vera range under screwcap, for under 10 dollars you get really well made Barbera, Merlot ... Read More

  • Snooth has two different wineries listed: Luca and Da Luca. I don't have a bottle at hand to try to settle the dispute. Does anyone know which is correct? Luca or Da Luca?
