Love the wines but the space is getting a little tight...)So it seemed lik... Read More

  • I’ve already written up the Grenache based wines I tasted during my time in Santa Barbara, they can be found here: Grenache - The Next Pinot Noir?  so today I am focusing on most of the remaining wines that I tasted while in the region. I’ll save the few Pinots I Tasted for a Pinot round-up, which might surprise some folks. You see I went to San... Read More

  •   My wife had some carry over vacation from last year that she needed to use up so we decided to head back to Paso Robles for a couple of days.Scanning our tasting notes from 2008 there was a predominance of zinfandel and syrah in the tasting rooms.  Fast forward to 2013 and we are tasting almost exclusively Rhone blends (reds and whites).  We d... • Los Alisos Syrah Santa Barbara County 2007

    Snoothrank:

Sweet, freshly sliced plums, candied black berry, fine oak, violet, rose petal and ground black pepper. A bit tight and quite focused up front with fine integrated acids, sweet fruit, red plummy fruit with a bit of sweet, cinnamony backing oak. The oak is a touch more prominent on the mid-palate which shows some liquory red berry fruit, a bit o... Read More

  • Los Alisos Chardonnay Santa Barbara County 2007

    Snoothrank:

Nutty, sweet and light on the nose with toast and mineral top notes over spicy apricot fruit. Lots of fruit on entry with rich pear and pineapple tones backed by light cinnamon and spicy wood notes. This is nicely balanced and quite smooth and creamy with the light vanilla sweetness of the wood helping to center the ripe fruit. 87pts Read More
