Not far than 100 kilometers from Mendoza City, in the Uco Valley, Bodegas y Vinedos Mauricio Lorca was born, created by Mauricio Lorca. Mauricio is the responsible person and winemaker og this project, which has the object of elaborating high quality wines. An innovative vineyard with 6850 plants per hectare was designed to produce the best grapes, so then elaborate high concentrated and complex wines. Mauricio's visio, enriched by his 12-year-old expirience, embraces the specific characteristic of the area and sensitive personality, honoring the generous nature which combines temperature range, water from the mountains, the virtues of the soil and kind weather. Accimpained by a great optimism, Badegas y Vinedos Mauricio Lorca targets to mark a tendency of intence wines which show the potential of Argentinean soil. – Description from markomkc

  • Mauricio Lorca Malbec Mendoza 2015

Boy was this ever good. Rich, lush blackberry, dark cherry, damson plum, spice and pepper lead to a well balanced tannic/acid profile that leads to a nice pop at the end. A short but taut aftertaste finishes the wine. Drink now - Paul 91 points Read More

  • Wine writers waxed fortified in a recent Forbes article titled “The 9 ... ... and the poetry of Garcia Lorca.” He recently has become interested in 'en rama' sherry, in which the wine is designed “to taste like wine poured directly from the cask.” Mixologist Wiznitzer's recommendation of sherry also included amaro and vermouth. The drinks are ... • Mauricio Lorca Angel's Selection Malbec 2013

A Naked Wines Selection. This is for the 2013, though I had the 2012, some time ago, but did not keep notes on it. This opens with cherry preserves, cedar, and dark chocolate and then a blueberry/cherry chocolate taste. There is a strange metallic taste midpalate that is off-putting, but that subsides -although does not quite go away after the ... Read More

  • Lorca Petite Sirah Napa Valley 1999

I had cellared this wine for a number of years and just opened it. It was well worth the wait. Great balance of tannins and fruit. Round flavor, slight initial bite but with a long, smooth finish. I had read reviews of this wine when tasted in 2007 and expected a much more average tasting. But the complexity and balance far surpassed the revi... Read More
