Limerick Lane Cellars
Intensely aromatic with spicy oak that is fairly prominent and a nice herbal hint under the vanilla all layered under lots of ripe, spicy blackberry fruit. Surprisingly light and fresh in the mouth with zesty red cherry fruit with a touch of rust suppo...

From the back label: 94% Syrah/6% Grenache. Dark murky purple in the glass. Very berry nose. Very easy on the tongue and under the palate. Gentle introduction of black raspberry. Some herbalness. Sufficient acidnoticeable, but complementary to the fruit, not dominating. Very gentle on the tannin. Certainly not a powerhouse wine, but t... Read More
I was thinking that it was them, RCKR. I think I read it in an e-mail newsletter I received from Limerick Lane. Of course, I just realized that, duh, I have the wisdom of the world at my figertips, and, so, I went to the Marietta Cellars web site. Sure enough, Jake and Scott Bilbro now run the show. I checked their wines, and, now, I have to... Read More
EMARK - Did the Bilbros take it over? Jake and Scott Bilbro, the current owners of Limerick Lane, are the sons of Marietta Cellars' Chris Bilbro, MC's current owner. I've had several offerings of Marietta Cellars wine - I think they are solid wines and on the occasion very good - Limerick Lane, on the other hand, I've only had once.It was ver... Read More
Flowery nosegeranium, violet. Combination of fruit and pepper on entryblueberry, plum with spiciness. The wine washes very nicely over the tongue. To my way of thinking, amazingly balanced fruit/tannin/acidI get all three, but none dominate. Read More
As wine lovers who among us doesn't enjoy doing horizontal tastings of wines from a single vineyard? That would probably be none of us yet the opportunity to do this doesn't surface very often. I remember doing a Limerick Lane Zinfandel horizontal last year with 6 takes on the same fruit. Other than that I'm at a loss. It's a great opportunity t... Read More
Dark fruit nose with a bit of alcohol. Soft textured on entry. Medium hit of dark berry fruit, maybe red fruit--cranberry. Very fresh tasting, certainly, not jammy. Medium-stiff tannin at mid-palate. I think this one is fairly typical of Zinfandel from this region. Read More
Remarkably smooth entry for such a young wine. Black fruit, but it seems watered down. So, it doesnt smack you in the face. There is also an herbal aspect that is, as much as anything, minty. Smoothness fades mid-palate where a combination of tannin, acid and alcohol seem to give it a roughness. I like this wine and am of the opinion that ... Read More
Hi everyone. This is my first post on the boards. My wife and I are doing a long weekend in Healdsburg (Jan 15-17) and Yountville (Jan 17-19) over MLK weekend and were looking for some recommendations on wineries to visit. We tend to like more full bodied red wines, but are open to other wines as well. We are from New York and want to focus o... Read More
Fairly pale yellow color. Fresh apple aroma. Quite light on initial taste. Light fruit hints of apple with a bit of lime. Excellent ouch of acid tartness prevents sweet fruitiness from dominating. I like this wine a lot. It is pleasant, easy to drink, and is not in-your-face with any characteristic. However, I do not have enough experienc... Read More
Fairly dark purple color. Big Zinfandelly noseblackberries, woods. Slides very easily over the tongue. Not nearly as fruity as the aromas forecasted. There are hits of blackberry and prune, but very sedate. Firm, not obvious, tannins. Nice acidity makes for good drinkability. Wonderful balance. No alcohol heat at all. Something of a c... Read More
