The Librandi winery is headquartered in Cirò Marina. This small Calabrian town is on the Ionian coast, near the Punta Alice promontory, south of the Gulf of Taranto. This area is naturally suited to wine growing: the soil is predisposed for vines and its happy geographic position, close to the sea with the Sila Mountains at its back, is such that it guarantees an excellent contrast between day-and-night time temperatures. Labrandi has grown grapes for four generations and in the 50s began botling as well.

  • Librandi Cirò Rosato 2005

Pungent spicy nose with almost rubbery undertones which turn to smokiness as the wine breathes. Nice sparkling acidity and low, smooth tannins. Spice and smokiness follow through with some nice red fruit/cherry. Very pleasant, excellent value. Read More

I love this wine. The full and rich flavor compliments spicy and smoked meat dishes, and reggiano cheese. It has made me a new fan of the Gaglioppo grape. Read More

  • Librandi Cirò Rosato 2005

Couldnt get a fix on this wine; a bit mysterious and a bit deviant. Made me go back for a curious second sip which was a little rugged and harsh around the corners of the mouth. A fighter. Read More

  • Librandi Gravello 2005

60% Galiopo, 40% Cabernet. Inviting, playful nose. Just the word Galiopo makes you want to laugh, a fun wine. Finishes bright red on top of soft elegant Cabernet tannins. Drank this wine again at dinner later in the night, when paired with food it showed a little darker and subdued, allowing the food and the wine to work well together. Read More
