Read moreIntense and fresh on the nose, this explodes with fresh citrus notes, kiwi peel, salty mineral elements and lovely Asian pear and acacia aromas all topped with gentle toasty spice. Reticent on entry, this is rather laid back early on with vivid acids that slowly lift up the fine, pure fruit. Shows grapefruit, melon and pear fruit, maybe a hint of guava as well. This is just a touch creamy, with a nice accent of wood spice that helps transition to the finish. Very long finish. This is elegant and refined, another wine easy lose in a crowd, but one that really rewards examination. 92pts    (hide)

This is lightweight and fresh on the palate with a finely integrated yet zesty vein of acidity. The flavors run to the crisp, white orchard fruit end of the spectrum- white peaches and pear topped with citrus notes. This turns just a little rounded on the back end but never gains any unnecessary weight. The finish is pure and crisp with more white orchard fruit tones over river stone minerality. 90pts    (hide)

I'm also going on vacation, I know imagine that, so I may not be able to answer everyday next week, but I'm gonna try.What was your wine(s) of the year?I'm digging through my notes to find mine. I have several lined up, a few of which will be rolled out during the early weeks ofthe new year on Snooth.If I had to pick one wine, no limits, it would probably have to be the 1982 Giacomo Conterno Monfortino I enjoyed a few weeks ago. Read moreThis is very herbal at first, a regular cupboard of dried herbs, softly sweet and aromatic with accents of cracked pepper, cocoa, black cherry, plum and date. Rich and soft in the mouth with lovely freshness to the flavors, all wild berry, wood spiced and a touch earthy/herbal, but this lacks focus. The acidity is rather soft and the tannins absent on the palate, though wood tannins join lightly jammy black cherry fruit on the backend and on to the modest, black fruited and spiced finish. 86pts    (hide)
