Lake Sonoma Winery
A very nice cabernet, not too dry or powerful, but with a nice hint of berries. Almost closer to a Merlot, but a great everyday wine to pair with a light meal, something like salmon or a dinner salad.

Oaky on the nose, with plenty of toasted almond and vanilla but there’s plenty of fruit here as well with nice notes of nectarine, pineapple and lime, and a nice note of licorice root. A bit fat and slightly creamy but at the same time this sits rather...

Wanting to refresh my memory on certain French vintages in the Rhône Valley I came across (as I often do) the Robert Parker Vintage Chart. Parker includes vintages from 1970 through 2010 on his website and scores them on the usual 100 point scale. He claims that scores of 70-79 are "average" while those of 80-89 are "above average to excellent... Read More
I generally avoid wine clubs of any sort, even at my favorite wineries--I'm too promiscuous to sign up to drink 12 or 24 botles of someone's wine in a year--but I am a member of Mauritson's Rockpile list, because there's no longer any way to get the Cemetery Zinfandel and good luck getting any of the others, either. Since I have in-laws up that... Read More
Light on the nose and gently buttery, with a waxy quality to the cherry fruit. This is light and easy to drink, with gentle red fruit flavors but its very simple. An easy quaffer that is well made and decent to drink but lacks much interest. 83pts Read More

Oaky on the nose, with plenty of toasted almond and vanilla but theres plenty of fruit here as well with nice notes of nectarine, pineapple and lime, and a nice note of licorice root. You could put this under "Wine and Travel," but here's the idea: dmcker responded to something I said about Cline wines that got me thinking. Some wines are good, but not necessarily worth seeking out. They're completely enjoyable, reliable from vintage to vintage, affordable, and widely found. These aren't always the experiences we are afte... Read More
