You can’t make great wine from mediocre grapes. Lake Sonoma Winery is dedicated to creating the ultimate expression of our Sonoma sub-appellation vineyards. Quality over quantity is our guide. The owner, Gary Heck, said, “If in one season the climate is such that the grapes are not to our quality standards, we won’t make Lake Sonoma wine from them.” Our mission is to produce premium, Sonoma County sub-appellation and vineyard specific wines: Zinfandels and Fume Blanc from Dry Creek Valley, Cabernet Sauvignon from Alexander Valley and Chardonnay from Russian River Valley. Our objective is to create the ultimate expression of these sub-appellations: wines possessing excellent structure, desirable fruit flavors, and intriguing complexity. Raise your expectation. Raise your standards. Lake Sonoma Winery - THE GOLD STANDARD. – Description from cpeterson

Lake Sonoma Winery on Snooth

  • I used to spend a LOT of time on snooth, but a job assignment took me away for awhile.  I am seeing some new faces, and some old.  As one who is catching up, I would like to hear from some new people here.   I think/hope we all share not only a love for wine, but a desire to share our experience.  Welcome, new Snoothers! • I am a dyed in the wool fan of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlots, Sangiovese's and a few Chardonnays and Pinot Grigio's. I am trying to widen my spectrum to include Pinot Noir's. I live in the Pacific Northwest so the Pinot Noir's are readily available due to the large varieties from Oregon. Before I embark on purchasing some different brands I would l... Read More

  • Lake Sonoma Winery Zinfandel Dry Creek Valley Old Vine Saini Farms 2009

    Snoothrank:

A bit woody on the nose, though it has attractive cedar and spice notes over licorice-draped black cherry fruit. This is nicely plump on entry with a classic vanilla, black cherry fruit profile that offers up flashes of blueberry and strawberry with the wines relatively bright profile. A little creamy in the mouth, this finishes with jammy and l... Read More

  • I'm planning on being in Napa on Wednesday the 25th and will probably visit at least two wineries while there. Anyone care to meet up, just let me know.My first priority seems to be Outpost Winery, though there are a few others I'm considering, I'll probably start at Outpost at 2pm if they can accommodate. • Everywhere I turn, I see people talking about 2010 in the Rhone (both north and south).  Lately, I've been on a mission to taste a lot of these wines and so far I've found some good, some bad and some that really would be better poured over pancakes.  In some cases, I've agreed with some of the wines being pushed by the "wine critic illuminati"....
